Documenting My Journey

Describe Your Perfect Work Day

It’s taken months of soul searching and frustration with recruiters and hiring managers to land back on this question…

Describe your perfect work day…

I recently read an excellent article profiling the amazing Claude Silver from VaynerMedia.

Chief Heart Officer ….  this is the role I was born to do and is how I answer the “perfect work day” question now.

In another interview with Claude, she states…

I believed in coming at everything with love—love first, generosity first, open heart first, and a belief that every person has the possibility to move mountains. Gary knew I wanted to spend my time facilitating growth and change in people and teams, and unlocking them.

Employees who are fulfilled and appreciated create amazing work culture, which leads to overall business success.

It’s what inspired me to get into coaching and then talent development as a career.

Helping other people succeed and find fulfillment by expressing themselves and their talents…  We spend so much time at work, it should be busy and rewarding, crazy and creative, intense and energizing.

Our work hours should be a fully aligned with our life. (I know …. what a radical idea!!)

Love to hear your comments on investing in this type of role within the business world.  Who else is doing a great job?

How Do You Define Success

In May of this year 2017, I’ll celebrate 49 years on the planet.   I have plenty to be grateful for to be sure.

I also know that I’ve got a long way to go before I can feel like I’m nearing my fullest potential.

The last five years have been a series of events that have forced me to really reflect deeply and evaluate my assumptions and decisions, and my path forward from here.

How do I define success? The definition of legendary basketball coach John Wooden summed it up perfectly for me…

Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.”

The question now is … how to move forward?

The answers are really not that complicated… after all, most of my career has been spent coaching other people to reach their goals.

I understand the process…. but I’m feeling very stuck.

I hope to be able to share a journey of figuring things out… and maybe someone else out there will find value in my story.
